Over 25 years ago a group of people came together to fight hunger in our community. These people were not paid to do what they did; they did it out of compassion for those less fortunate than themselves. They gave what they had, the gift of time to put together a network of more people and resources to feed those in need. They planted a seed all those years ago that has grown into an organization recognized in the community for its expertise and longevity in feeding the Lake County community.
Although we have grown throughout the years, we still remain very grassroots, relying on our church community in Lake County to assist us with the ministry that is COOL. In January 2007 we relied on the spirit of the grassroots efforts that founded COOL to open a satellite pantry in Ingleside to better serve our neighbors in western Lake County. COOL Pantry WEST currently provides services solely with the use of volunteers. For many of you who were around 25 years ago, you will know how difficult that can be.
On February 26, 2008 the staff and Board of Directors at COOL observed the 1st Anniversary of COOL Pantry WEST with a celebration. It offered an opportunity for us to acknowledge the wonderful accomplishment that is COOL Pantry WEST. We honored over forty volunteers who provided over 1,800 volunteer hours throughout 2007 to serve their neighbors in need. Thank you COOL Pantry WEST volunteers. Thank you for your vision, your patience, and your undying belief that what you are doing is the right thing to do. We are all proud of you. |
